As the Alcohol and Other Drugs (AOD) Counsellor you will support clients aged 14 years and older, their families, and communities to reduce the harms and impacts of alcohol and other drug use across the Community Working within the Mental Health and Social and Emotional Wellbeing (SEWB) team, you will provide counselling, education, and coordinate prevention strategies in a culturally safe and respectful way. You will work closely with self-referred clients and those referred through clinical or mental health services, while delivering community-based health promotion activities. About You: You will be a skilled professional who brings experience, cultural awareness, and a commitment to improving community wellbeing. You will have: Demonstrated high-level knowledge and understanding of the alcohol and other drugs (AOD) treatment sector and community support services. Minimum Diploma level qualification required; relevant Bachelor's degree preferred. Strong understanding of harm minimisation and recovery-oriented approaches, with the ability to provide trauma informed person-centred care. The ability to work respectfully, creatively, and effectively with Aboriginal people and communities in a culturally safe manner. Experience living and working in a remote Aboriginal community (highly regarded). Experience using electronic patient record systems.
